Doctrine of the Trinity
I.     The basic fundamental of Christianity.

       A.   The word "trinity" is not in the Bible, the concept of the three-in-one, the triune.
The term "Godhead," referring to the three-in-one, can be found in Acts 17:29 and Colossians 2:9.
Many other words or concepts "not in the Bible" are scriptural nonetheless

      B.    The doctrine of the Godhead can be summed up in the literal Hebrew translation of one verse.
              Deuteronomy 6:4
"Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our Gods (plural) is Jehovah a unity."

II.    The concept of the Godhead (Trinity) is evident in scripture as early as the first chapter of the book of Genesis.

        A.    The Hebrew word Elohim actually indicates more than one divine personality.
This plural form is used over 2,500 times in the OT.

        B.    In the account of creation recorded in the book of Genesis God speaks plurally of His own Person.
               Genesis 1:26, 27 - 3:22; 11:7 - Isaiah 6:3, 8.
"Let us make man in our
image, after our likeness ... So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him."

III.    Even the OT makes definite reference both to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

                  Isaiah 11:2 - 42:1- 48:16 - 61:1 - 63:9

IV.    Examination of the following NT scriptures makes obvious the doctrine of the Godhead is truth.

God the Father, His will first

Matt.22:36-40  Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment. The second is like unto it,  Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

The first 4, of the ten commandments, are covered under the 1st great commandment.
The last 6, of the ten commandments, are covered under the 2nd great commandment.
Jesus completely covered all ten commandments using only two.

John 4:34  Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
John 5:30  I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just;
because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

John 5:36  But I have greater witness than of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish,
the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

John 6:38  For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
