even so we speak; not as pleasing
men, but God, which trieth [approves]
our
hearts.

man's work of what sort it is.

1 Thessalonians

glory
and
joy.

The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder,
and a
witness of the sufferings of Christ,

partaker of the glory
that shall be revealed:
2. Feed the flock
of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof,
not by
constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3. Neither as
being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
4. And when the chief
Shepherd
shall appear,
ye shall receive
a crown of
glory that fadeth not away.

and mark them which walk so as ye
have us for an

an example to the other believers of the
accomplishments of & in Christ:
1 Peter 5:1. The elders which are among

faith:

Lord,
the righteous judge, shall give me at that
day: and not to me
only,
but unto all them also that love his
appearing.

Christ's appearing.
The
Believer's Crowns
Revelation
4:1-11
I. Who shall obtain these
crowns? Every child
of God
shall
obtain them,
Enjoying Christ in all His fullness. John saw no uncrowned
heads
in
glory (Revelation 4:4).
II. How shall these crowns
be obtained? We by God's grace, not
by our works.
First,
We have no good works (Romans 3:10-12).
Second,
grace and works are mutually exclusive, and will not mix
(Romans 11:6).
The parable of the workers in the vineyard clearly teaches us
that all
God's children
will receive the same reward, and that this reward will be
obtained by grace alone.
(Matthew
20:1-16)
III.
What shall Christ's
people do with their
crowns? Cast their crowns
before the throne,
"You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power;
for thou
hast created all things, and for
thy pleasure they are and were created."
(Revelation 4:11).
By this act they signify that they
received their crowns from Him and by His grace,
and that they are
unworthy to wear them in His presence,
nd that He alone is worthy of
them all.
"Crown Him with many crowns, the
Lamb upon His throne!"
In
Closing :
( John 19:5 ) This world gave Jesus a crown of thorns,
then crucified Him as a man.
( Rev. 19:11-16 ) But
His return will be as who he always was, is, and will always be.

LORDS "
